By plane: which airport
Barcelona-El Prat is the airport with the most flights, about 200 km from Andorra la Vella. Girona-Costa Brava and Reus are alternatives depending on where you fly from, at a similar distance. There is also a small airport near La Seu d’Urgell, in Catalonia, with few routes: see is there an airport in Andorra?.
From the airport you continue by road: from Barcelona Airport, from Girona Airport or from Reus Airport.

What time will you reach your hotel?
Tell us when you land and where you are going. We tell you when you will leave the airport and the window in which you arrive, allowing for the Cadí route, the border and the day’s traffic.
Estimated arrival

- Pick-up around 13:45: about 45 min to get out of the airport (we wait 60 min free of charge).
- Driving: 169 to 194 min (200 km).
- Border and traffic margin: 0–15 min.
An estimate based on driving times without traffic plus a careful margin. Not official data: no public source publishes waiting times at the Andorran border.

By train: get off in Barcelona or Lleida
No trains reach Andorra. Travellers arriving by high-speed train get off at Barcelona Sants or at Lleida-Pirineus, which is closer by road, and continue by bus or private transfer.
Bus or private transfer
Scheduled buses connect Barcelona and its airport with the Andorra la Vella bus station at fixed times; the fare from the airport is about €33–35 per person each way (operators’ published fares, checked on 27-10-2026). For someone travelling alone with little luggage, it is a good option.
A private transfer is priced per vehicle, with tolls included, and drops you at your hotel door at the time you choose. From three or four people, with children, a lot of luggage or a late arrival, it is usually the more practical option. You can check the price for your group in the search box on this page.
By car: the border and the roads
The road from Spain enters Andorra at La Farga de Moles, after La Seu d’Urgell. You need an identity document for every traveller, and on the way back Spanish customs check what you carry. From 1 November to 15 May winter equipment is compulsory on every road in Andorra. Our travel guide explains documents and customs in more detail.
If you are going skiing, our sister site explains how to get to the Andorra ski resorts.
The border
Entering Andorra and coming back: what to know
Andorra is not in the European Union: there is a customs post on the CG-1 (Riu Runer, 848 m), between La Seu d’Urgell and Sant Julià de Lòria. Going in is usually quick; coming back, there are queues on Sunday afternoons and at the end of long weekends.
Going in
- A valid ID card or passport for every passenger, children included.
- If you need a Schengen visa, it must be double or multiple entry: you re-enter the EU on the way back.
- Minors travelling without their parents: their own document and a signed authorisation.
- From 1 November to 15 May, winter equipment is compulsory on every road in Andorra; with snow, colour phases set speed limits.
